JOB SCOPE:

Responsible for directing, influencing and driving continuous EHS improvement and reduction of risk for the plant. Also includes the application for, maintenance of and reapplication for the site environmental permits in terms of their monitoring, recordkeeping, reporting and performance.  Direct De Nora's EHS Corrective Action System and participates in EHS projects and improvement activities.

 

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execution of MSRs – Manufacturing Safety Reviews for new and existing/modified processes to assess risks and properly protect the workforce and the environment.
  • RCRA recordkeeping and handling of documentation, waste testing and characterization, and use of the Waste Database tracking for all waste removal.
  • Data entry for various environmental permits on the OEPA website and ODH website including, but not limited to: Air Emissions, Surface Water, Wastewater, Radiation Emitting Device Reporting, SERC/LEPC SARA Title III-tier II, RCRA reporting, and Toxic Release Inventory-TRI.
  • Participate in and provide guidance to the safety committees: ergonomics, hazard recognition, storm water, 5S, housekeeping, and emergency management.
  • Conduct periodic training for hourly/salary employees.
  • Conduct periodic housekeeping and 5S safety audits.
  • Write and review safety programs and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Take lead in writing EHS policies and EHS work instructions. · Take part in and lead 8D process reviews and investigations for incidents.
  • Issue varying work permits for items such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Work at Height, etc.
  • Data collection and reporting for all safety incidents.
  • Oversight and involvement/lead in the Safety Incentive Program, SIP, to promote engagement of the hourly employees.
  • Management of the Radiation Safety Program including management of devices, reporting and administrative audits.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety programs and maintenance of the OSHA 300 log.
  • Management of safety databases and tracking of training records.

 

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or similar discipline. (or 5 years' experience specifically in an EHS role)
  • Professional Certifications, PE, CSP, CHHM, CEA, etc. are a plus, but not required.
  • Strong communication skills are imperative; must be able to properly motivate and adapt to both management and hourly employee audiences to effectively influence change and drive improvement.
  • De Nora Tech is a fast paced, results-oriented, and “hands-on” type of safety position that will involve frequent work on the production floor. Must be able to effectively collaborate with management and hourly employees to properly drive communication and improvement. Most importantly, must be able to lead people and demonstrate commitment to improving the De Nora work environment.
