Summary

The Director of New Product Development (NPD) is responsible for driving innovation and development of new products across the De Nora Water Technologies business unit globally. The role requires leading a talented team of engineers, designers and specialists to conceptualize, design, and bring to market innovative water treatment solutions that enhance our product portfolio and maintain our competitive edge.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, and technology experts to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability,
  • Product Development: Oversee the end-to-end product development process, including ideation and conceptualization, feasibility analysis, design, prototyping, testing, and validation, ensuring products meet quality and performance standards,
  • Project Management: Effectively manage NPD project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget product launches,
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to ensure successful product launches and market penetration,
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products meet regulatory and compliance standards related to water treatment and safety,
  • Intellectual Property: Manage intellectual property strategies, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, to protect the company's innovations,
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the product development budget, making cost-effective decisions that maximize ROI,
  • Strategic Planning: Stay abreast of industry trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for new product development. Implement comprehensive product development strategy aligned with De Nora’s long-term goals and market trends in the water treatment industry.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of successfully launching innovative products in the water treatment sector,
  • Strong understanding of water technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements,
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities,
  • Strategic thinker with a creative and innovative mindset,
  • Project and/or Product Lifecycle management experience and proficiency with relevant software tools,
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, or a related field; advanced degree preferred,
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in product development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in the water treatment industry.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management (PMP) or Product Development (PDMA) certifications are a plus.
